With the 75th highest GDP among 5,562 Brazilian cities, Mogi das Cruzes stands out as the fastest-growing city among the 100 largest in Brazil. The city exceeded expectations and rose 21 positions in the last ranking disclosed by IBGE [Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics], a growth of 61.3%. Progress marks the public policy for development adopted by the current administration, which, among many other achievements, created social programs that benefit over 100 thousand people, created the Taboão Industrial District, where 18 companies have already established themselves and another 16 are on the way, and achieved the lowest rate of illiteracy in the history of the city, all while also investing in the expansion, reformation or construction of 66 schools, investing 100 million reais in the new water and sewage treatment stations, and contributing to environmental preservation and to the population’s quality of life, earning Mogi das Cruzes the title of ‘city of growth’, and making the population proud to live there.
